A single heartbeat can mark the difference between before and after. When disaster, war or crisis strikes, life can change in an instant. People may be forced to leave their homes and seek safety elsewhere. At the same time, there are those who stay behind to help.
In a Heartbeat is about courage – the courage to stay close to people who have been injured, lost their homes or been forced to flee. The installation explores solidarity, compassion and those moments when the distance between people narrows and a sense of connection emerges. In a Heartbeat is based on interviews with Red Cross volunteers from different parts of the world.
