The trees at Österplan were planted in the late 19th century. Since then, the city around them has changed, while the trees have remained. They bear traces of time and of everything that has passed by.
In The Pulse, the trees take on an almost physical presence, like a heartbeat running through the space. The installation draws our attention to the living world at the heart of the city, reminding us that a city is made up not only of asphalt and buildings, but also of living organisms with rhythms and lives of their own.
Janez Grošelj is a light artist and architect whose installations explore the relationship between our surroundings and human experience. Using light, he transforms public spaces into immersive environments that invite reflection. Since making his debut at the Lighting Guerrilla Festival in Slovenia in 2015, he has created large-scale and interactive works internationally, often exploring recurring themes of nature, science and sustainability.

Its work encompasses both social and ecological values, with the aim of creating safe, vibrant places, strengthening biodiversity and managing the city’s resources with a long-term perspective. This can include trees, green roofs and carefully planned stormwater management, all of which help create better conditions for people and ecosystems in a dense urban environment.
