During the festival Allt ljus på Uppsala, the photo exhibition “vigorous efforts for better water” features images by award-winning nature photographer Johan Hammar. The exhibition illustrates, through words and visuals, the concrete work done within the EU project LIFE IP Rich Waters. This project has been going on for seven years and has implemented various improvements to the aquatic environment in the regions around Lake Mälaren.

Johan Hammar has extensive experience in photographing water and has documented Swedish freshwater from north to south, both from the air and underwater. He has published the book “Sötvatten – en värld av liv” (Freshwater – a World of Life) and was named Nature Photographer of the Year by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency in 2019. His driving force is storytelling and creating impactful images. Additionally, he has worked for many years as a biologist focusing on freshwater and water conservation measures.
