The light festival Allt ljus på Uppsala takes place during three weeks in November. The nordic darkness this time of the year makes the light festival a popular event. In addition to the light art, a number of different activities are organized, which you are welcome to take part in with family, friends or explore on your own.
Allt ljus på Uppsala is an inspiring experience where you as a visitor will now play a crucial role in shaping a better future. With annual themes linked to Agenda 2030, we invite you to actively participate in our shared sustainability efforts. Through our light installations and their individual messages, we aim to encourage dialogue and discussion about the ongoing transition to a more sustainable future.
The festival has taken place in Uppsala every even year since 2008 and as of 2018 the light festival is arranged annually.
Allt ljus på Uppsala is arranged by Uppsala Municipality and Uppsala City in collaboration with artists, installation hosts, partners and co-organisers. Destination Uppsala project manages and is in charge of marketing for the event.

We take care of both the local environment and the environment at large. We actively seek to hold a light festival that is as sustainable as possible and which has as little negative environmental impact as possible. Our initiatives include actively reducing littering and encouraging our co-organisers to adopt an environment and sustainability aware approach to carrying out their activities.
As a visitor, you can help too! Please help us to reduce littering by using the provided litter bins. Where possible, take an active responsibility for sorting your litter (paper in the paper bin, etc.). We also encourage you to use public transport. Getting a bus or a train to the festival is easy – tickets can be bought directly via the UL-app.
