November 19th: Unfortunately, the light installation is out of order. We hope it will be restored by 4:00 PM on November 20th, when the festival lights up for the evening. Thank you for your understanding!

Oxygenation of lakes and waterways is essential for ensuring vibrant and healthy ecosystems, but we rarely reflect on its importance for both flora and fauna. Translucens illuminates the invisible processes and hidden dynamics that sustain biodiversity and balance in our aquatic ecosystems. The artwork also serves as a reminder of the critical natural systems present in our environment.

How often do you pause to truly understand and appreciate the natural conditions that support our ecosystems? These processes range from the oxygenated waters that sustain fish and other aquatic organisms to the systems that purify water and contribute to a sustainable cycle. The artwork acts as a reminder of the unseen forces constantly at work, maintaining the health of our waterways.

Let Translucens guide you toward increased awareness and appreciation. By engaging with the artwork, you have the opportunity to see our waterways with new eyes, to discover the beauty in natural processes, and to protect the biological conditions that are a prerequisite for a sustainable future.

Light host: Rich Waters

The light installation is presented by Life IP Rich Waters, which contributes new knowledge and methods to address some of the most serious environmental problems affecting our waters. The project is a collaboration between authorities, municipalities, businesses, researchers, and water conservation associations, working together to improve water quality. In Uppsala, they have implemented measures to combat the eutrophication of Hågaån and developed the multifunctional water park in southern Gottsunda.

During Allt ljus på Uppsala, the photo exhibition “Efforts for Better Water” will also be displayed in Rosénparken as a complement to the light installation.
